President Biden Appoints Two United Association Officers to New Carbon Capture Task Forces

Two United Association Officers to New Carbon Capture Task Forces
UA Special Representatives Jeremy Moddrell and Kyle Henderson were appointed to new White House task forces that will provide input to inform the responsible development of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration (CCUS).

United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus praised the appointment of Jeremy Moddrell and Kyle Henderson, two United Association officers, to two new task forces designed to provide input to inform the development and permitting of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration (CCUS) projects.

“United Association members are the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the industry, and we are already hard at work building the infrastructure required for carbon capture projects,” McManus said. “Brother Moddrell and Brother Henderson are experts in their field who will bring the much-needed voice of working men and women to these policy decisions. I have no doubt that these task forces will ensure that the future of American energy infrastructure is built by the hardworking men and women of the United Association — and that these policies will ensure all communities stand to benefit from carbon capture technology.”

The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ)  announced the task force participants on March 24. The two task forces, which are required by the Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies (USE IT) Act, will provide recommendations to the Federal government regarding CCUS projects.

UA Special Representatives Jeremy Moddrell and Kyle Henderson will be helping these task forces complete the assigned tasks.

United Association members across the country are already hard at work deploying Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration technologies.

With our gold standard training and apprenticeships, coupled with our constant efforts to remain on the cutting edge of technology, the United Association is well-positioned to continue delivering the future of American energy infrastructure and carbon capture projects.

As experts in the field, Brother Moddrell and Brother Henderson will bring an important voice — that of the UA members actually doing this work — to these task forces to ensure future legislation and policies reflect the highest standards and best industry practices.

We applaud the Biden Administration for having the foresight to know that appointing our Union Brothers will benefit these task forces and the country as well.
