Industrial
The industrial sector in North America encompasses manufacturing, distribution, warehousing and other large facilities requiring detailed planning and construction. UA members throughout the years have provided many skills and much expertise—from welding, pipefitting, plumbing and fire protection to technical skills such as CADD (computer aided drafting and design) and BIM (Building Information Modeling)—that have advanced the construction process enormously. Members continue to play a vital role in this sector.
The industrial sector in the North American construction industry is a large and vital segment of our economy. Many of these facilities are specialized and unique. UA members working on industrial projects include Pipefitters, Plumbers, Welders, and Sprinkler Fitters. The projects are often owned by large, multinational corporations that demand quality and productivity at the highest level. UA members frequently need expert certifications and knowledge in order to meet the requirements of these jobs. Many members spend their careers working in the industrial sector because they enjoy the challenges these jobs pose, as well as the satisfaction of knowing they are part of building something that is essential to our economy and our security.
