Women in the UA
Women at the UA earn the same pay as their male counterparts, have equal opportunities, access to jobs, training and promotions. The number of women in the UA is growing every day and the UA is committed to significantly increasing opportunities for women in our industry.
Recruiting and Organizing
UA locals recognize that women bring a unique set of skills and work ethic that are invaluable to our industry. Women bring a limitless potential to the UA. Many locals have adopted programs specifically targeting the recruitment and retention of women. As part of the continuing effort to recruit and organize women into the piping industry, the UA has a National Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, who works to provide information, identify opportunities, and establish new relationships with out side organizations to encourage women to consider the UA.
Tradeswomen Build Nations
Tradeswomen Build Nations (TWBN) is an annual gathering of women—from all over the world—who are working in the building trades. The event includes workshops on issues and trends of special relevance to women in the trades. The United Association’s General President, Mark McManus, was the keynote speaker at the 2019 TWBN where over 400 UA delegates and nearly 3,000 tradeswomen were in attendance. The United Association has been a sponsor of this event and plans to continue its commitment to TWBN in the years to come.
