← WHY UA / Supporting the Local Community
The UA, along with our contractor partners, work closely with regional businesses and community groups to promote economic development. We network with area school systems to promote education-to-vocation and pre-apprenticeship programs, and we work closely with Helmets to Hardhats to train veterans for careers in our industry. In recent years, we have trained three times as many minority workers and four times as many female workers as non-union programs.
Our local unions across the U.S. and Canada also have a long history of giving back to the community. Our members are strong supporters and contributors to local charities, shelters, non-profits and community outreach programs.
