← Pipeline and Gas Distribution / Pipeline Repair
Millions of miles of pipelines crisscross North America, bringing oil and natural gas to power plants, hospitals, refineries, hospitals, schools and homes. Pipelines are essential not just to our economy, but to our very quality of life as well. Pipelines are also the safest way to transport petroleum products—far safer than rail, ships or tanker trucks. For more than a century, the pipeline systems in Canada and the United States have safely and reliably delivered oil and gas to every corner of North America—in large part thanks to the skills of United Association pipeliners, working in partnership with contractors through the Pipeline Contractors Association. Over the decades, the UA and our contractors have proven time and again that we possess the skills and expertise to do this vital work.
Today, there is a pressing need not just for new pipelines, but for the repair or replacement of our overextended pipeline infrastructure as well. While it is a testament to the skills of UA pipeliners over the generations that these pipelines have functioned so well for so long, the time has come to undertake a major rehabilitation of the entire system. Until that work begins in earnest, lives will continue to be lost when aging pipelines fail and millions of dollars in property damage will occur. The United Association, along with our contractor partners, believes the time is now to begin this task.
