Appointment of Chris Haslinger as Building Trades Apprenticeship and Training Director

Brother Chris Haslinger, UA Director of Training, has been chosen to serve as Director of the North America’s Building Trades Apprenticeship and Training Committee. Brother Haslinger will remain as UA Director of Training while serving in this new role.

The Building Trades Apprenticeship and Training Committee is comprised of Training Directors from various International Building and Construction Trades Unions. The committee meets quarterly to discuss areas such as apprenticeship, the multi craft core curriculum, ongoing and future national projects, and training issues or concerns as they arise.

Brother Haslinger was chosen because of his extensive knowledge and experience. He began his career with UA Local 50 and served his apprenticeship as an HVACR technician, and since then has played a key role in several UA education projects (i.e., green energy programs, HVAC training curriculum, energy auditing and labor history). His education includes an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Training, a Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Education, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Since 2012, Brother Haslinger has been responsible for the administration and development of all UA training initiatives. He serves as Chairman of the International Training Fund, the President of the International Pipe Trades Joint Training Committee Corporation, and oversees the training component of the Veterans in Piping (VIP) Program. He was also appointed to the Advisory Council on Apprenticeship by the Secretary of Labor.

We are very proud of all that our Training Department has accomplished under Brother Haslinger’s leadership. We know that he will represent the UA and our commitment to world-class training well in this new role.
